Summer Strength, Free/Club Workouts, Captains Information
Warrior Swimmers and Divers,
It was great seeing so many of you on Sunday for the award distribution! Your smiling faces truly made my day!
I have some information that I wanted to share before I end up crazy-busy with a baby...
First off, if you're interested in being a captain for next year, please email me a little blurb about why you're interested and what you think you would bring to the team as a captain. This year we will have a leadership group of our seniors which will be lead by four "traditional" team captains that are voted upon by the team. At least one of the team captains should be a diver to represent that very important part of our team. Please email me your interest in being a captain by THIS FRIDAY, April 21st. I'll email out a Google Form to vote for captains next week.
Secondly, I wanted to let you know that we will once again be having free open-pool hours at Two Rivers. I'll provide three levels of workouts to complete. These will begin on June 19th and run from 3:30 - 5 on Monday/Tuesday/Thursday. Spencer and Brian are also looking at adding additional options potentially in the morning or on other days. Stay tuned. This is open to anyone that was on the team last year.
Lastly, the high school is offering a strength-training program (specific to swimming) lead by Anne Ballweg. I would highly encourage this if you have the time this summer. For those of you that already have great technique, lifting can really give you a major boost. It's also one of the best ways to become resilient towards injuries. The lifting program will begin on June 12th, run from Monday - Thursday and go from 10-11 AM.
If you have the time, I would highly encourage you to get some workouts in this summer. If you're away from home you can always go out for a quick run. If you're looking for something more structured, the Minnesota Flyers is a great option. They're local (at our pool), well-organized, and you can even get a free week to try it out. Anna Crain joined the Flyers and I'm sure she would be happy to tell you about her experience.
With our move to AA, we'll need to utilize every tool we can if we want to stay as competitive as were last year.
We got this! Go Warriors!
